We take a research-based approach to learning and delivers the gold standard in behavior analysis and communication-based skills. You will learn to use behavioral science to observe and systematically evaluate the behavior in criminal and interpersonal contexts. We train you to clusters of behavioral indicators of deception. You will learn to use research-based behavioral indicators to guide investigative focus once a subject has been engaged in casual conversation and/or in a semi-/formal interview processes. This skill can be used as a force multiplier/resource allocation tool, allowing you to quickly determine on whom to focus your investigative efforts and which subject can be removed from suspicion.

This advanced course takes a closer look at the subtleties of communication and how it relates to truthfulness and credibility. After developing the skills and techniques to read and pick up information from others through the six channels of communication (SCANS™), you will then move onto non-oppressive elicitation techniques and how asking great questions and adopting a proven approach can support a constructive relationship and get you the information you need.

  • Expand your ability to see and hear what others are truly thinking and feeling.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the six channels of communication (SCANS™) and how they relate to emotion and deception.
  • Critically evaluate what a person is attempting to say to develop a fuller understanding
  • Use effective, non-oppressive, questioning strategies within high-stake conversations and interviews

You will be analyzing video and audio of real life scenarios and criminal cases, practicing with one-to-one activities and simulation, and taking part in high-stake group exercises, designed to stretch your new skills and increase your abilities.
